The Roman houses of San paolo alla regola is 9 metres below ground level in the heart of medieval Rome. It was probably a sort of condominium used also as a warehouse. In late III century a.D. part of the complex was completelly renovated and transformed into a rich house with black and white mosaics on the floor and elegant marble column. In middle age part of it was buried underground.
