One
of the most fascinating archaeological sites of underground Rome is on the
Celian hill. It consists of a complete ancient Roman building complex. Very
well preserved and recently restored, the site includes numerous rooms of
a completely frescoed wealthy Roman house, the remains of a courtyard with
a fountain, mosaics and, at a lower level, a Roman street with shops and a
cellar.
There
is the possibility of organizing poetry readings and artistic events in this
archaeological area in order to evoke and recreate the splendid scenes of
ancient pagan and Christian Rome, with the chance to taste the dishes and
culinary delights of the ancient Roman gastronomic traditions, as well as
musical performances and shows.
