The stadium of was built in 80 A.D. from the Emperor Domitian that transformed this area with the construction also of the Odeon. The stadium was originally used for athletic games of Greeks tradition but soon was transformed in a Naumachia, a huge bacin filled with water for naval battle. The shape of the Stadium and his size (200 mt x 60 mt ca.), are still visible from todays street. Some significative walls of the Stadium belove piazza Navona were partially excavated in the 1930s.
