<  Orsini Castle - San Polo dei Cavalieri

The origins of this castle are dated back at 1100 years when was property of the powerful monastry of San Paolo fuori le Mura of Rome. later passed to the Templars Knights Order and in 15th century to the noble Orsini family as a part of their territory. In late Renaissance was bought by the Cesi family which transformed the Medieval castle into a fortified palace and all the apartments where decorated wine refinated frescoes. In early 17th century the count Federico Cesi hosted the scientist Galileo Galilei.
