For about 5 centuries the State of the Church was administrating the justice on his own. More then 20000 persons were imprisonated in the Church Jails in Rome and more then 500 people died after beeing torturated, killed in pubblic executions. Guillotine, decapitations, hanging and many other way of give death were normally used in Roman streets and squares. This tour will show the dark side of the Inquisition, in a fashinating step back in the history. We will start from the popular Market square of Campo de Giori used untill 1800 for the hanging and where was burnt alive Father Giordano Bruno in year 1600,a Renaissance philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, priest and mystic. The tour will continue visiting the famous Cross of St. Girolamo church, where the condamned used to kiss it before die. We will enter in the New Jail, built in 1770 in via Giulia next the Old Jail of 1650, where we will see some of the terrible instruments of torture. The tour will end at Corte Savella Jewish Prison, now demolished, where was imprinosed the countess Beatrice Cenci before decapitation 1599.
