The Jewish Ghetto of Rome

Disciver the Jewish Ghetto of Rome, the oldest Ghetto of the world, created by Pope Paulus V Carafa in 1555 where more then 7000 Jewish Roman were living untill 1870. The Roman Jewish Community is probably the oldest community out of Isralel since the first Diaspora. During the tour we will deep in the history of the Roman Ghetto and his surrounding, starting from the magnificient ruins of Portico d'Ottavia, built in 1st cen. b.C. and now totally excavated. We will visit the Sinagoga, built 100 years ago and the biggest of Italy, with his museum just inaugurated. The famous Tempietto del Carmelo, the Church of St. Maria del Pianto, the fountains of the Cinque Scole, the Tiberina Island, the noble courtyard of Mattei's family, the Jewish bakery with the famous bread and pizza. Acrossing the Tiber we will visit the oldest Sinagoge of Rome, dating back at 1200 year and the pictoresque archaeological subterranean. A world to be discovered.
