Once a fortress of the Orsini family,
mentioned by Dante in the Divina Commedia, the building includes various different
palazzi built around three courtyards originally belonging to the three branches
of the ancient family. In the 18th century it passed to the Taverna family
and it has canvasses, frescoes and decorations of great artistic value on
the piano nobile, which is a unique complex of unsurpassed beauty and splendour.
